Pappa Gallos is relocating to the corner of 281 and Casey Road. The construction has taken longer than they anticipated. Their lease ended at the end of September and their new spot still isn't ready. Keep your fingers crossed that we are dining on their amazing taco salad by December.
I was there a couple weeks ago and the sign said closed on Tuesday. The website link actually takes you to the Papa Gallo in New York, not the one in Bulverde.

Good food, great prices, & the staff always makes you feel welcomed. Customer service is amazing here I feel like family when I walk in the door. It’s your typical Mexican restaurant but I can honestly say I have enjoyed everything I have ordered here.
Average restaurant, no sweet tea, menu is pretty limited, food was good but not outstanding. Salsa tasted a little like cocktail sauce. Service was good though, very friendly.
Average Mexican restaurant with a limited menu. Good service. Prices are competitive.
Everything is good. Best chili relleno anywhere.
WOW! $4 tacos and a very limited menu?? This place is more expensive than a lot of the Mexican restaurants in Austin! Also, they were very stingy with the tostadas that they gave us. They might have given us 8 total chips! It’s obvious that they are targeting a specific clientele with these prices. My wife and I just left.
Don’t just pass this place without going in and dine. The service is awesome and food is very good. Fair pricing, and mouth watering food.
All of the food was delicious! Service was fast and very friendly! We will definitely be bringing our friends and family here again!
Pablano chicken is amazing, must eat at this resturaunt
I highly recommend this place. Very authentic Mexican. Best place in San Antonio.
We were a large party and the waiter was excellent. He got everything right and quickly established a rapport with all of the diners. I was actually OK with him forgetting something considering our party size, but he was excellent. I really wish I would of gotten his name, he's an older Latino gentleman.Understand this is not a 5 Star establishment. But, if you are looking for a very good mom and pop joint that makes great Mexican cuisine, and staff that is genuinely concerned on your satisfaction, I'd highly recommend this place.I'll be going back.
The place is nice and cozy, but the food is not up to par. Food was under seasoned. Price was ok.
Fresh, hot crispy chips and flavor-packed salsa. I had the cheese enchilada and will definitely be back for more. Cheesy and yummy red sauce. The staff were attentive and the place was clean. They also have a patio that I hope to check out next time.
What a great little Mexican cafe. Good food and very friendly people. Their marinated beef is to die for.
Best Mexican food anywhere, wish they served breakfast. Had the lamb burger with avocado and it was so juicy and flavorful!
After months of passing this place on my way back from San Antonio, we finally made it here and it so worth the wait! Now, we actually didn't have to wait this Saturday night,we were sat immediately by a very nice man and then an equally nice man came to take our order. Both were very humorous, joking with patrons and making funny comments the whole time. They definitely make you smile. The food did not disappoint either. It came quickly, was fresh and hot and very good! The fried apple pie for dessert was a must have on your next trip.
Try the apple pie...trust me. You will not regret it.
Great food. Fast service & friendly owner. I highly recommend them.
Always wonderful, friendly service. Steve, the waiter, keeps everything jumping, while, at the same time, schmoozing with the customers. Food is excellent!
This little gem had a great waitress who made the experience here worth coming back. The food presentation was appealong but taste is ok. With a name like Pappa Gallo's I was expecting something a little more. I enjoyed the chips and salsa very much the salsa had a little kick but was on the tomato side of salsa, chips were crispy. The fajitas in the beef fajita burrito were tender juicy with meaty flavor. The mole for the chicken mole enchiladas was yummy however the chicken was a little dry. The guacamole was fresh and savory. The beans were beans and the rice was feeling a lil rice roni spanish rice style. The corn tortillas were thin packaged corn tortillas so eh. I would suggest passing on the Maragritas unless you like yours to taste like a lime raspa. Good cozy place for a quick bite as the service was quick. I will be going back amd trying other dishes. :)
Pleasantly surprised! I didn't even know it was there. Nice folks and great food.
Almost missed this spot on the rode. It's so well hidden.First impressions seeing this place is that it's beat down. However, that all changed once inside. The owners of the restaurant are very friendly. The place has a family atmosphere. The food is amazing! Probably the best Mexican food I've had in Texas so far! The price is also low. Great place!!
Rude dude at the registar, Steve!! Awlful service, loud rude waiter, again was Steve..and ...Never going back, we had take out there many times, but this was the last straw, our last visit.
Good food. Definitely check out the specials before you order. Service is slow (we went on a Wednesday night) and they have trouble accommodating groups of more than four. The drink menu is extremely limited so don't expect more than a handful of beers and a house margarita.
Incredible food and customer service! Family owned restaurant with a personal touch.
Super tasty chicken mole and everything else is great too. Highly recommend. Always a hot plate and consistent service.
This is a great family-owned, homestyle Mexican restaurant. The food is really inexpensive and very good. The food is all made to order. The tres coloures is my personal favorite!
Hands down the best Mexican restaurant around. The menu isn't huge, but everything is great. Make sure to look at their specials menu as well. The staff is super friendly, and I cannot recommend the pie for dessert enough.
This place is wonderful! The people are sweet. They're very attentive. They have the best margaritas, and the quesadilla de la casa is delicious!
Marvelous! The beef burrito had the most tender succulent skirt steak I’ve ever had even what I made myself!
The Best! Very nice people, even a customer recommended the apple pie slice with burbon butter sauce. Took it to my parents warmed it up and they even had ice cream in a separate container. The best Mexican Food around!!
The food as absolutely delicious, however you can on get unswert tea. The service was outstanding, and the food came out in a very timely manner!!
I've been eating here for over 20 years so so so so good!! Great family that owns it too!
Have been visiting this place for 10 years. Everyone we bring here, comes back on their own. Wonderful food, can't go wrong with anything. Their apple pie is to die for. They serve their beer with an ice cold mug. Salsa is fresh, and chips are nice and crispy. They have a lunch menu that is a little cheaper too, which makes it a good place to grab a quick meal. I will say the kid's meals are a bit pricey ($6.95) and they do not come with a drink. That would be my only "minor" complaint. Other than that, we LOVE this place!
This place is LEGIT! Coming from a Mexican American from the Rio Grande Valley, I can attest to good Mexican food. From the moment we walked in we were greeted with a welcoming atmosphere of friendly staff, laughter from patrons and an inviting aroma. We ordered the Fajita Trio and devoured the entire sizzling platter! The food was moist and flavorful. Our service was superb. Can't wait to be back!
